Does Miso actually remove the smell, or just hide it?+
It captures. Fragrance hides — it adds a second smell over the first. Miso adds nothing; activated carbon holds odor molecules inside its pores. We won’t say “eliminates,” and be careful with anyone who does: no device can honestly claim complete removal of a gas being produced continuously a few feet away.
